Living in Montana for fifteen years meant outside fun in the summer. We only had three months of good weather, so we went to the lake, went to the park, and played in the yard. In Little Rock we have nine months of good weather, and then there is summer. I was shocked to find out that kids in the south spend a lot of time inside, but I understand! Being at the park is no fun when it’s one hundred degrees!
Whether you need to beat the heat or just need to cool down for a few hours, one free, fun thing to do is play board games. Little Alyssa is still trying to get the idea of “rules,” but we’re having a fun time teaching her! Here she is playing games with her older sister, Leslie:
What were your favorite board games as a kid? What games do you like to play now? What are your kids’ favorite games?
It is hot down here! I loved playing Clue as a kid. I dominated that game! And UNO. My kids now play that game and we like Phase 10 and Apples to Apples!
We love Word on the Street, Headbandz, and Candy Land. And this summer hubby is teaching my daughter how to play chess.
I used to love, Clue, too…but my favorite was LIFE! Anyone remember that?
