Hi! I’m Tricia Goyer, an author with over 90 books spanning novels, non-fiction, and children’s literature. Many of my novels are inspired by historical events from around the world. As a wife and mom to 10 kids (and Nana!) I balance writing with family time, health coaching, and mentoring aspiring writers. I’d love to connect on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. I love all things royal. My newest release is a contemporary romance with a historical Princess story woven in—Trust the Stars. Here’s what it’s about:

Trust the Stars by Tricia Goyer intertwines the lives of Olivia Garza, a woman helping troubled teens and secretly producing a docu-series in Little Rock, and Princess Alessandra Appiani, a WWII royal who risked all to save Jewish children. Olivia’s work leads her to Kenya, where meeting Prince Louis of Alloria challenges her ideals. Tasked with documenting Alessandra’s bravery, Olivia confronts her fears and reevaluates her life choices. This novel highlights courage, love, and the impactful decisions that define us, showcasing how individual actions can alter history and the importance of faith in unseen futures.
Princess? World War II? Researching for Trust the Stars led me to an unforgettable experience that reshaped my understanding of courage and love…
Lesser Known WW2 Heroes Who Changed the World
Years ago, while researching, I stumbled upon the story of a European princess imprisoned in a concentration camp. Her bravery astonished me, and I wondered why her story wasn’t widely known. This curiosity remained with me, waiting for the right moment to be shared. That moment arrived during a conversation with my friend Roseanne White, who was seeking princess stories for White Crown Publishing. I proposed a split-time novel inspired by Princess Mafalda of Savoy, weaving her historical bravery with a modern royal narrative. Roseanna was intrigued, so I began crafting the character of Princess Alessandra, drawing inspiration from Mafalda’s incredible sacrifice during World War II.
I delved into the life of Princess Mafalda of Savoy to learn more about her. Then, I used elements of Mafalda’s story to inspire the fictional bravery of Princess Alessandra in my novel Trust the Stars. Princess Mafalda, daughter of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, became a symbol of hope amidst the darkness of war. Her suspected involvement with the anti-Nazi resistance led to her tragic demise in the Buchenwald concentration camp—a stark reminder of the cost of peace and the consequences of silence against injustice.
But Mafalda’s story is not alone. Throughout World War II, countless men and women made significant sacrifices to fight tyranny and oppression. Raoul Wallenberg saved tens of thousands of Jews in Hungary. Nancy Wake, a leading figure in the French Resistance known as “The White Mouse” for her elusiveness, also displayed extraordinary courage during this time.
These heroes remind us that bravery knows no bounds and that both men and women can be great heroes. Their stories of sacrifice and courage during World War II show examples of those who shine in darkness. As I read and learn their stories, I am humbled by their legacy. My desire is that Alessandra’s story–woven within a contemporary royal romance–will inspire each of us to live with more courage, compassion, and conviction to care for others, even at our own expense.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to all 🍀
Forgot the Hello 😁 so excited about real books!
I enjoyed your Blog post with Janet McHenry discussing Praying Personalities. Also, Trust the Stars sounds fascinating. We cannot imagine the horrors of the concentration camps unless we know stories of survivors or heroes who made a difference. I had two maternal great-uncles who were POWs, taken prisoner after the Battle of the Bulge. They ended up in separate but adjoining POW camps. Uncle Lloyd spotted Uncle Johnny through a hole in the fence! Uncle Johnny always stood out in the crowd because he had a cocky stance. These two were neighbors but became bro-in-laws after the war. Uncle Johnny escaped and managed to stay alive until American soldiers found him. He was 6’, weighed 86 lbs. and had TB. American soldiers freed Uncle Lloyd during the Liberation.
This one definitely on my list
Trust the Stars seems packed!
Interesting premise. Thanks for the chance to win.
