Other than Jesus, who are your favorite disciples or New Testament figures? Is there one you’ve particularly identified with?
The more I read Scripture that Paul wrote and learn more about him, the more he amazes me! He loved the Lord and the people of God so much. His letters always inspire me, and I go back to them again and again.
Is there a Scripture you’ve read lately that has come to mean something new to you?
I love Ephesians 6:15 in God’s Word translation: “Put on your shoes so that you are ready to spread the Good News that gives peace.” I’d never thought much about this verse before. It gets lost in the rest of the verses about the armor of God, but when you think about it, what good is a soldier without shoes? The prickly obstacles in his path would slow him down, even if he is suited up. Ephesians 6:15 reminds me to “put my shoes on” spiritually and be prepared to go out and spread the good news of Jesus wherever He calls!
What have you done lately that Jesus would be proud of?
I think that what makes him most proud is thinking of others before ourselves. I have some big things coming up, including writing projects, speaking events, and a missions trip, but the little acts of obedience are sometimes the hardest.
What have you done lately that Jesus would be disappointed with?
Fear and worry. We’re going on a missions trip to the Czech Republic, and we missed the opportunity to buy sale plane tickets because we didn’t have the money at the time. Now we have the money, but the tickets are much more expensive. I worry about the cost, but deep down I know God can be trusted and He has a perfect plan!
What’s one special thing about your relationship with Jesus?
He’s always with me, and knowledge of His presence is only a whispered prayer away. Some moments I feel as thought I’m carrying the weight of my family and work on my own, but it’s in those moments when I feel a stirring in my heart and remember that it’s not all up to me (thank goodness)! That’s amazing!
