Hello, Hollywood!
I was never one to dream about Hollywood growing up—of going there, or being a star, or seeing my name in lights. Instead, I wanted to get married, have a few kids, and become an elementary school teacher. I imagined living my whole life in the small town I’d grown up in. Just thinking of that made me content.
Nothing I dreamed of came true—not that I’m complaining. And I’m ending up in Hollywood, not with my name in lights, but with my name on the cover of a book.
Tuesday I’m attending the premiere of Moms’ Night Out. As the author of the novelization I’m told I’ll be walking the red carpet, but I have no idea what that means. Is there a manual I can buy somewhere? A quick how-to guide that will keep me from looking like a fool? Not that people will notice me, because there will be stars there. Real movie stars that have Twitter followers in the millions.
And Monday I’ll be going to Dancing with the Stars. I’ve watched the show for many seasons, but I never imagined myself THERE. And, also while I’m in Hollywood, the producer friends that I work with at Storehouse Media have set up some appointments with me to talk to studios about turning some of my books into movies and television shows. <—- Read that last sentence again. I’ve read it over, like, five times because it doesn’t seem real, even to me.
Like Allyson in Moms’ Night Out, but life is normally like this (that’s sanitizer in her hand!):
And this: (That’s marker on the wall)
And this: (Writing is my sanity)
But since I’ll be in Hollywood, it’ll be more like this:
Only I’ll be in this dress:
What about you? What dream has come true for you that you never imagined would?

I LOVE that dress! I wouldn’t say I’m star-struck, either, but WOW! I don’t see many movies, but I do want to see this one because of Patricia Heaton. And I do watch DWTS, so I’ll watch for you! I’m so happy you have these opportunities. You work hard for the Lord.
You should see it, Stephanie. It’s wonderful!

That dress is gorgeous and you will be fabulous waring it! I have dreams of writing for the glory of the lord also, and I know that won’t be an unfulfilled dream. It is coming true now in bits and pieces. I love it.
I’m so excited for you! And I only live about 30 minutes from you. So it’s ALMOST like we’re neighbors. Have fun!
So happy for you! Go into ALL the world…..that is what you are doing. Congrats and enjoy this experience. You asked what dream has come true for us? This August I get to minister to social workers and orphanage staff in Ethiopia and Ghana to care for the children they are responsible for loving and caring for. As long as I can remember I have had a passion for Africa and for travel and ministry. I have been a minister for 18 years but this is waaaaaay more than I ever expected! God is good!
That is a great dress! I love it. Enjoy your time in the spotlight.
Congratulations! Love the dress. Blessings!
So, so excited for you, Tricia! I hope you enjoy the experience and are able to take it all in as it happens… what a gift!
Even better to be exploring those possible opportunities for your own books… that’s the multiplication only God can bring. He knows where your stories need to be heard and how they can get there. So many watch movies and TV and don’t read books (oh, how they miss out!) but this is another way for the Word of God to be heard among the masses.
I REALLY hope your WW2 books make it into movie form – what a way to honour the veterans whose journeys the stories are based on, as well as spread the Good News of the Gospel.
Tricia, I am SO excited for you and SO proud of you as well! You are such an amazing person and I truly believe that you deserve all the blessings you are walking out! Wave to me while you are in California (we live in Pismo Beach) 🙂 Enjoy your time, and I am looking forward to meeting you IRL in October for the TBM retreat!
This is so exciting!!! I love your dress, and I hope you have a grand time and savor every moment! I’ll be praying about your meeting with producers about them producing some of your books. What an awesome opportunity to share the Truth you share so effectively in your books! Thanks so much for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday! Love having you there!
