Last month I had the opportunity to have Carey Bailey on my show, Living Inspired. You can listen to that interview here. She is currently touring the web on a Litfuse blog tour with her product Cravings. We got the chance to ask a few more question about her awesome new devotional made especially for busy moms!
What inspired the idea for the product?
This post best describes it. Basically once I became a mom I lost my God time. I couldn’t figure out how to fit it in. Everything but that time was a priority. So I started making note cards that I set around my house with scriptures written on them. When I was washing dishes I could read one, when I was changing diapers I could read one, when I was doing the billion loads of laundry I could read one. You get the point. 🙂 They provided me nuggets to be thinking about as the mommy duties were happening. When I found out my second child was on the way I felt God nudging me to share this concept/technique. And I took it a few steps further with an actual reflection on the scripture and an action idea.
How did you come up with the product design? What’s its significance?
My main goal was “easy, convenient, and on-the-go.” I wanted moms to be able to put the cards where needed and where they frequented the most. The holder was the idea of the distributor. They wanted to play off of the logo and the fact that cupcakes are an “in” thing right now. The name Cravings: Desiring God in the Midst of Motherhood literally came from me craving God time. I missed it and Him. Being pregnant at the time I just connected the dots with God and food cravings that really come for most woman during times of stress. I knew I wanted a whimsical, vintage, shabby chic feel and so the cupcake was born and a friend of mine made the visuals in my head a reality. Thank you talented friends! I never imagined it would become such a key piece of the pie.
What’s the significance of 40 days?
If I am honest there is no significance to the 40 days. 🙂 It was just a natural number for me. It gives a mom more than a month’s worth of devotionals which I felt was helpful.
How do you see women using Cravings?
My goal would be that woman use it as a daily devotional. It can stand alone or be an addition to their quiet time. It easily sits on your kitchen or bathroom counter. It is readable in 5 minutes or less. My prayer would be that it would provide woman with bread for their day and a challenge to encourage them to walk through their day in new ways.
Do you see a followup/supplement to these cards?
Yes. I have already written sets for Advent/Christmas, Lent, Romans, Galatians, Proverbs, etc… I will write one for every book of the Bible if I can. 😉
