My Writing Desk | Liz Tolsma

desk (1)

This is my little writing desk in my bedroom. My husband gave it to me as a Christmas gift last year. He got tired of sharing his desk with me because I had my stuff spread out all over it. I got the lamp last year from my husband’s grandmother after she passed away. I had admired it for years. It’s not real Tiffany, but one can pretend. The picture to the left of it is our beautiful sponsor daughter in Vietnam. It reminds me to pray for her every day. To the right, is a box of my son’s high school graduation pictures.

On the left hand side of the desk is my calendar (but who uses it?) and on top of it is the resource that I’m using the most right now for the book I’m writing. That’s a bank statement on top. Anyone want to balance my checkbook??? On the right is my copy of the ACFW magazine. I’ll get time one of the days to read it! The memory foam neck pillow on my chair works great for my lower back.

It’s my little corner and it makes me feel “professional” to have my own desk. Like I’ve really arrived and now I need to sit down and get to work. There is no window here for me to stare out of so that I can focus on what I need to do. Best of all, it’s mine. I don’t have to share it with anyone. Maybe one day I’ll have a room that is nothing but my office, but until then, I love my little corner.

About Liz Tolsma

Liz Tolsma has lived in Wisconsin most of her life, and she now resides next to a farm field with her husband, their son, and their two daughters. Add a dog and a cat to that mix and there’s always something going on at their house. She’s spent time teaching second grade, writing advertising for a real estate company, and working as a church secretary, but she always dreamed of becoming an author. Find out more about Liz here, or visit her on Facebook and Twitter.

About Snow on the Tulips

SnowTulipsThe war is drawing to a close, but the Nazis still occupy part of the Netherlands. After the losses she’s endured, war widow Cornelia is only a shadow of the woman she once was. She fights now to protect her younger brother, Johan, who lives in hiding.

When Johan brings Gerrit Laninga, a wounded Dutch Resistance member, to Cornelia’s doorstep, their lives are forever altered. Although scared of the consequences of harboring a wanted man, Cornelia’s faith won’t let her turn him out.

As she nurses Gerrit back to health, she is drawn to his fierce passion and ideals, and notices a shift within herself. Gerrit’s intensity challenges her, making her want to live fully, despite the fear that constrains her. When the opportunity to join him in the Resistance presents itself, Cornelia must summon every ounce of courage imaginable.

She is as terrified of loving Gerrit as she is of losing him. But as the winter landscape thaws, so too does her heart. Will she get a second chance at true love? She fears their story will end before it even begins.

Liz is celebrating the release of Snow on the Tulips by giving away an Amazon reading pack! Details will be coming later today on this page.

Your desk looks so tidy and organized, Liz. Makes me want to finish cleaning up my office to look that way. I turned the dining area of my condo into my office area. I love it, but right now it looks nothing like yours! LOL.

Well, I do have to admit cleaning it before I took the picture. Now it’s cluttered with the stuff for the winner of the craft fair giveaway, but they have yet to send me their address! I was just thinking I need to clean it again.
