Math Mastered with the Less-Mathy Math Bundle
Do you have a math-hater? Do one or more of your kids struggle with math confidence? As a 25-year veteran homeschooling mom, I know mine have. After homeschooling our three biological children, my husband John and I went on to adopt seven children from foster care. Many of my children had faced physical and emotional issues that affected their ability to learn. I had seen normal homeschooling difficulties with my three oldest kids. However, with our adopted seven, I faced homeschooling trials that challenged me daily.
That’s where Sonlight came to my rescue.
When John and I adopted our sibling group of four they looked like this. We knew that this was God’s plan for us and for them. We welcomed them into our home and planned to homeschool them with love the way we had done all our other kids. But, unfortunately, state laws prevented us from doing so until the adoption was final. For six months we had to work our entire household around the schedule of public school education. I dreamed of the day when my girls would be home all day and we’d sit around our dining room table and enjoy hours of learning together.
Little did I know…my four beautiful girls had a lot in store for me as a teaching mom, and us as a family.
Behind their big smiles hid kids who had lost their zest for learning through rote memorization and masked learning disabilities. I remember the first few weeks of homeschooling and the tears and frustration we faced. To say we had dove off into the deep end would be an understatement. Our saving grace was that I had been using Sonlight’s teaching tools and learning strategies for years. It wasn’t instant. It wasn’t easy. But with Sonlight by my side, I helped my girls not only learn how to learn but to love it as well.
With Sonlight’s hands-on tools for teaching, I was able to reach my children with personal, easy to use, engaging content. Sometimes kids just need to experience math in non-mathy ways like project-based learning, stories, and hands-on exploration to see that they are actually good at math. Math doesn’t have to be a struggle, it doesn’t need to incite anxiety, fears, or tears. With Sonlight we helped our kids become learners and with Sonlight’s Less-Mathy Math Bundle you’ll have cheers (instead of tears) at math time.
If you’ve found yourself (or your kids, or both!) running for the Kleenex when it’s time to do math, fear no more. Sonlight’s Less-Mathy Math Bundle is exactly what you need to make math fun and family teaching time peaceful again. Homeschooling with Sonlight makes me feel like Supermom!

What’s Included in the Less-Mathy Math Bundle?
This fill-in book helps children to think like mathematicians by introducing key mathematical concepts in a highly visual–and entertaining–way. Through fun activities and illustrations, This Book Thinks You’re a Math Genius encourages young readers to engage with new ideas by experimenting and investigating for themselves.
Explore seven key areas of math: geometry, space and volume, statistics, numbers and number patterns, codes and ciphers, and the concept of infinity.
Each spread centers on an open-ended question that introduces a key mathematical concept and suggests activities that engage the child in a fun way. Children will do all sorts of mathematical stuff, but not like anything done in math classes. You’ll break codes, draw cool patterns, hunt for objects and get wet feet. By the end, you’ll be an official math genius – and you won’t even have added 2 plus 2.

Math Adventures
Every kid can go on a fun math adventure!
In a village hidden in the woods, animals live, work, play, and sometimes even quarrel. Led by a wise owl, second graders can wander through this enchanted space. As they visit the town, they’ll decode recipes, count cookies, and practice their addition, subtraction, and logic and problem-solving skills.
These books do not emphasize formal math definitions or terminology. Instead, math concepts are introduced gradually and naturally, as part of the story-based framework. Through this combination of storytelling and entertaining activities, even reluctant learners can grasp basic mathematical principles and begin to love the world of numbers.
Included in this workbook is practice in the following skills:
- Reading and comparing quantities between 10 and 20
- Grouping by 10s
- Counting up to 100
- Addition and subtraction, plus an introduction to multiplication as repeated addition
- Strategies to help mental calculation skills
- Logic puzzles…and more!
This set includes grades 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Young children learn math best if they have fun while they are doing it. The Math Adventures series approaches math as an experience that should be playful and relatable.
Math Adventures is designed to make math practice engaging and enjoyable for young learners. Featuring colorful illustrations and an entertaining storyline, these workbooks will help your children develop the skills needed to succeed in math.
