Earlier this month I announced the “My Favorite Memory” contest and asked you to send in your favorite childhood memories to be entered to win 1 of 10 copies of my new book Sweet September!
Over the next few weeks I’ll be posting those entries. What a treat it has been to read your stories!
Hezra:
I have two–they are a tie. When I was about 2(my first memory), my mom was rocking me in her creaky chair and singing “papas gonna buy you a mocking bird”. I had my head leaned against her chest. I could hear her voice vibating my cheek. I was introduced to music, singing, love and mothering. my favorite things.
2nd– When I was six, my baby brother was brought home. I became his second mama. I folded his cloth diapers, I fed him his bottles, and I was the only one to get him to smile when he was sick. I carried him like my own baby doll. My love for him is enormous, and it gave me the joy of what a mama feels. I knew I had to have a large family even then!
Contest ended August 31st. The winners will be announced September 5th!
