While I drool over all the well-ordered, lovely desks and offices that other authors have posted on Tricia’s site, mine does not look like them! I have a big, old mahogany desk salvaged from my uncle’s old office, shelves with all my books lined up, reminding me I can actually write (when doubt strikes), and pictures of my family. But my desk is also covered with stacks of paper to be filed and whatnot, and all that MESS always drags me away from the story at hand. Add to that the pull of household chores, phone calls, Facebook and Twitter and email, and I can hardly get anything done at home anymore.
My Writing Desk | Lisa T. Bergren
Enter the beauty that is my local public library. Here, you see my favorite seat, right by the magazines.
I do better at ignoring the magazines than I do the chaos of my home office, so this works well. When someone is in “my” seat, I stake it out from another, impatiently waiting for them to move along. I like having my back to the wall/window, because I get neurotic about people reading what I’m writing over my shoulder. (And no, I rarely write on planes for this reason.) Behind the shade is a gorgeous view of Pike’s Peak . . .
. . . a view I rarely see. But if I am in need of a good stare into the distance, to think something through, I’ll pull up the shade and look at America’s Mountain. It’s a beauty, huh?
From this “desk” I’ve written the majority of my last ten books. Right now, I’m working on the rewrite of Glittering Promises. That’s why you see Grave Consequences splayed beside me. I have to remember what I wrote last in order to keep things in order for the finale of the series! In honor of that series, I will give away a copy of Glamorous Illusions! Enter using Rafflecopter below.
So, what about you? If you are a writer/were a writer, where do you think you’d get a whole book written?

Lisa T. Bergren is the author of over forty books that used to mostly be written from her home. She lives in Colorado Springs with her husband, three children, and a white, fluffy dog that also distracts her from writing, because she always wants to be walked, or let out to bark or chase squirrels. To find out more about Lisa, check out her website or find her on Facebook and Twitter. She won’t respond to you right away unless it’s morning and she’s in her home office. In the afternoon, she’ll be at the library. . . .
In celebration of Lisa’s new novel, Grave Consequences, she’s giving away an iPad Mini! Full details are here.
Lisa is also giving away a copy of Glamorous Illusions, the first book in the Grand Tour series. To enter, use the Rafflecopter widget below. Remember, only those in the U.S. are eligible to win.
At my desk, I have some of my favorite things surrounding my laptop…photos, gifts from my kids, over-dyed embroidery floss. To some it looks like clutter, to me it is inspirational:)
I think sitting on my back deck. There’s nothing but mountain and wilderness back there. Peaceful and beautiful.

I love being in the sitting room off of the kichen. The chairs face a large paned window that overlooks the yard. From there I can see the stone patio and fountain. The sun shines through brightly and with such a comfy chair, I will stay in that spot all day if I can. Plus, I am close to the kitchen for muchies 🙂
