Glasses: I increase the fonts onscreen, but if I have to check a word in the dictionary or look up something from a nearby book, I can’t read without them.
Pile of to-be-filed paperwork (don’t ask me where)
Wires for iPod hookup
Pens/pencils
Hand cream: because dry skin divides my attention from what I’m doing
Gum: for when I get tired
Stickies: because they have to be in my face instead of pulled up on computer

Tear bottle (which you can see at the base of my lamp): It looks like an ornate perfume bottle, which it technically is. I keep this bottle on my desk as a reminder that God views my tears as precious, something to be saved like an expensive perfume or spice. If tears bring me closer to Him, then this tear bottle is an important reminder — which is why I keep it close by.

Maureen Lang writes stories inspired by a love of history and romance. An avid reader herself, she’s figured out a way to write the stories she feels like reading. In addition to investigating various eras in history (such as Victorian England, First World War and America’s Gilded Age) Maureen loves taking research trips to get a feel for the settings of her novels. She lives in the Chicago area with her husband, children and Labrador retriever.
For more information about Maureen, visit her website and blog or connect with her on Facebook.
For your chance to win a copy of Maureen’s upcoming book Bees in the Butterfly Garden (available July 1), leave a comment with your email address. The winner will be announced here next week!
Congratulations to the winner of Rachel Hauck’s The Wedding Dress!
