My space. I love, love, love the morning sunshine spilling in the window, the large screen Mac (my indulgence) and the curved keyboard (essential to relieve my carpal tunnel problems). Behind my desk, peeking at you from the right of the picture, is my antique German-made hutch that holds research books, a stapler, a few antiques, and all the books, to date, in the Quilts of Love series, of which my newest release, A Heartbeat Away, is a part! Aren’t those such colorful covers?
My desk itself is also bill-pay central, so there are plenty of envelopes scattered about since this was taken during tax season. The phone, the essential-for-every-author external harddrive, and of course my little dog who enjoys curling into a ball next to my feet on the ottoman as I write, or, better yet, he sometimes lays on my shoulders! Great neck roll. Along the wall are the covers of my historical romances and cozy mysteries, as well as some of the certificates I’ve earned for being a Carol Award finalist. And that is my space where I slave away over the keyboard for about two to four hours a day when I’m actively engaged in the writing of a book.

Dionne Moore is a historical romance author who resides in South Central PA with her family, surrounded by the beautiful Cumberland Valley and lots of fun, historically rich locations. She is a weekly contributor to “The Borrowed Book,” a blog for book-lovers and “Cozy Mystery Magazine,” for all things cozy mystery. Find out more about S. Dionne at her website or on Twitter.
Her new book, A Heartbeat Away, is available now. Here’s more about it:
When a band of runaway slaves brings Union-loyal Beth Bumgartner a wounded Confederate soldier named Joe, it is the catalyst that pushes her to defy her pacifist parents and become a nurse during the Battle of Antietam.
Her mother’s mysterious goodbye gift is filled with quilt blocks that bring comfort to Beth during the hard days and lonely nights, but as she sews each block, she realizes there is a hidden message of faith within the pattern that encourages and sustains her. Reunited with Joe, Beth learns his secret and puts the quilt’s message to its greatest test—but can betrayal be forgiven?
Thanks for letting me share my office (and my little doggie!) with you today, Trish!
I loved having you!!
I love seeing your work space, Sandra. Now, when we brainstorm on the phone, I can picture you there … you and your little dog, too! (snicker)
Ane, how blessed you are to have each other!
Rebel is a little smaller than your two beasts, huh? LOL!
My little dog always wants to me in my office when I’m writing, too!
Yet another writing desk post (I love these things!) Thanks for sharing your space (and doggie) with us, Sandra.
Blessings to both of you, Sandra and Tricia!
Andrea
I enjoy sharing this type of information, Andrea. It’s neat to see where authors spend their time and to hear about what they do in a typical day-in-the-life. Thanks for stopping by!
Love your office. Nice, neat, orderly — everything mine is not, but I wish it was. But, I do have a dog/lapwarmer/neckroll. Aren’t they the best?
I wish my office was this neat!
Ours is a six pound malt-poo, so he doesn’t shed and, yes, he’s the best dog ever! We had Golden Retrievers before Rebel and while they were wonderful dogs with very gentle natures, the hair drove me nuts. Going to a small dog was a big leap for us, but we wouldn’t trade him now–he’s such a cuddle bug!
Our dog is 1/2 Scottie and 1/2 Pomeranian and he sheds a ton. UGH!
Thank you for sharing! I always love seeing these writing/work spaces! I will add this to my “inspiring workspaces” on Pinterest! And, how cool is it that Dionne Moore is close to me??? I love in South Central PA! Cool! 🙂
Ack! Where? WHere? I’m in Mercersburg at the foot of the Tuscarora Ridge. If you’re a writer, there’s a group of us who meet at Chrstine B’s in Waynesboro once a month. Join us! Even if you’re not a writer, it’s fun!
Well, I live a little further Northeast of you and according to google maps – it’s about an hour and 45 minutes away! I’m in York currently and will be moving to Hershey in August. My husband and I will be starting as full-time house parents. If I could, I would love to attend your meeting though!
Hershey is 1 1/2 hours north of us. My SIL lives in York. I hear the taxes there are MURDER!
I would love to come Saturday, but I leave tomorrow for a church conference and won’t be back till July 3rd. 🙂 Do you guys have a connection with each other online at all?
Our next meeting is July 13th. You can contact Janice Elder (janice(at)wau(dot)org) for more information, or me, of course!
That’s great. Thank you!!
oops — I *live* in South Central, PA too! haha And, I can’t type apparently … 😉
Hopefully you love it … as well as live in it!
haha good point! We do love living here! 🙂
And if you want to come to our meeting one Saturday, email me and we’ll get you directions. It would be fun to have you. We have one lady come in from Shippensburg, so maybe you could meet her. That would cut down on your drive a little. . .
