This view is from my summer writing nook. It came about because I don’t like feeling trapped inside an office. After listening to my whines, my husband carved a ledge into our mountainside and placed some Adirondack chairs around a fire pit. Early on summer mornings, I creep up there with my Venti cup of black tea with wild honey and cream. Me, the birds, the squirrels. And the natural view helps me get inside the head of my protagonist, forensic geologist Raleigh Harmon.
I’m also encouraged by that huge pine tree, front and center. It looks like it went through some difficult growing seasons. And survived. Like a writer.
