The Call To Adopt
January 2012 John and I were 1,000 miles apart, and God spoke to both our hearts the same day: “I want you to adopt children from the foster care system.”
Yes, “children.” As in plural.
We didn’t have time in our schedules to think of adding on more kids. We had full lives. Yet we were obedient. (I’m so thankful!)
After months of paperwork, foster care training, and home studies, our house was declared “open” November 2012.
On January 9, 2013, we meet “Sissy” and “Buddy.”
On January 10, 2013, we brought them home.
For the last six months we’ve all be in transition. The kids have been learning what a family is like. And we have been learning all types of new parenting tricks (with the help of awesome behavioral therapists). We’ve also been expanding our hearts.
July 16, 2013, the judge declared these children as Goyers. I’d like you to meet them! <click to tweet>

Alyssa is now three and LOVES having an older sister and younger brother!

Welcome to our family . . . forever!

Celebrate!

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family inside and out! Congratulations!!!
Lots of Love,
Courtney 🙂
Thank you so much, Courtney!
So beautiful!
Thank you!
God bless your sweet family! Isn’t He good to us?
Luis and I adopted from the foster care system. There are so many kiddos here in the US who need a forever home. We are blessed to have three of those kids in our forever family.
Enjoy the journey!
Hugs,
Daphne
P.S. – Behavioral therapists rock! Remember to use as many post-adoption services as you need. Keep in touch with your CBC. They’re there to help you. 🙂
I just got home from the behavioral therapist appointment. I see miracles happening!
Hooray!! Your family is beautiful, Tricia. Praying you will all be abundantly blessed with many wonderful memories. Praying for Bella and Casey’s adjustments. How amazing is it that because of you and John they will come to know and love the Lord like you. God is so good.
I love that the girls are wearing matching dresses. I always thought it would be fun to have two little girls close in age to dress the same.
Love,
Erin
Yes, I ordered those dressed right away. It is a joy!
So very thrilled for you!
Thank you, Cara!
Aw, welcome to the Goyer family officially Isabella & Casey! They are so sweet and I’m sure bring your house a lot of joy.
They do!
Congrats! SO thrillled for you!
Mary
We adopted 6 out of the foster system and would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Such a blessing!!
LOVE the pictures! Celebrating with you!! <3
I am so thankful you followed God’s calling & adopted these precious children. They are beautiful & their eyes are absolutely stunning! Thank you for sharing them with us, I’ve been dying to “meet” then ever since you announced they had joined your family. LoL
One day, I hope soon, we’ll be able to make the same announcement.
Congratulations dear one!
Congratulations!! What a joy for everyone involved. Praying God’s blessings on all of you!
Tricia, Thank you for opening your hearts and sharing your home. Thank you also for sharing pics of your family with us. We are waiting for the newest member of our family to arrive. My great-nephew was born earlier this year, but we have not officially met him yet. Still he is a part of our family as we pray him home from overseas. We post large family group pics often and it will be so exciting when we are able to post one that includes him.
I love this post. And those adorable kids!!!! You rock. They rock. Together you totally rock!
Congrats! What a beautiful family you have. God Bless you!
Great post Tricia… love, love, love the pics! Would really like to reconnect, I interviewed you at ICRS a couple years back for my Not Just Talkin’ The Talk radio program. God has fine tuned my focus to parenting and grand-parenting, your journey lends itself to some great interview content for my audience.
Blessings to the Goyer family!!!
God sets the lonely in families. . . Psalm 68:6. He knew just how he was going to craft your family. Enjoy every minute! (When our kids were young we used to celebrate both birthdays and adoptaversaries.)
Yay! Celebrating with tears of joy and praises to God for His goodness in your lives. Jack and Katie look forward to playing with their new friends some day:)
Beautiful children! I love it when families reach out to children in the foster care system here in our country – it is such a need!! Blessings to you and your new members of your family 🙂

Congratulations on your blessing. I have been on both sides of the adoption plan process and I am still amazed by God’s Love during it. Thanks for sharing!
What beautiful (and handsome!) additions to your already gorgeous family, Tricia! Congratulations, and may God bless all of you with many, many moments of shared laughter, a few of tears (to help you grow), and lots of hugs and kisses.
Thanks for sharing your growing family with us.
Blessings,
Andrea
Congratulations! May God bless your family!
Congratulations to your family! As a fellow adoptive mom, I love to hear stories of children joining their forever families. May God bless you all.
Congratulations! When the kids have already been with you for a period of time before the adoption is finalized, it brings an extra intensity to the feelings of that day. Reading this brought back memories for me. It is so beautiful to see all of your family together, a family brought together by God.
So exciting! We adopted 4 years ago from foster care (a teen!) and doing it again with 4 & 5 year old siblings!
BEAUTIFUL FAMILY! Thank you for introducing them. 🙂
I was just talking with my sister about fostering and adoption. Congratulations! Thank you for being open – heart and home for these children!
Prayers that you will be blessed in abundance through these lives that have been added to you!
Bless,
Brittany
Oh I just love the “celebrate” photo!
Congratulations on the beautiful new additions to your family! I have been in the process of adopting my oldest (foster) child for the last 4 years and hopefully all will be finalised by the end of 2013. I have 2 other (foster) kids that I adore and would love to adopt in the future. Unfortunately in Australia adoption from Foster care is not so simple or common and there are so many legal and political hoops to jump through. I grew up with parents who were foster carers so I always knew it was what I would do too. I honestly love when people talk about fostering children, its a topic that people don’t always know much about but needs to be shared.
Tricia,
Congratulations, dear one! They are absolutely adorable. It was nice to “officially” meet their precious little faces after months of praying for your family as you all made adjustments on your new journey in life. May God continue to pour His blessings of love and peace upon you all!
My mom was brought up in foster care late in her life, while she was pregnant with me. It changed her life, she got loving parents. I love my grandparents and they are the most loving people I think I will ever meet. They blessed my mom with love and the Gospel message. I am so grateful that there are people like you and them who will take in these previously unloved children. Every child needs a mom and a dad.

Thank you so much for sharing these joyful times with us!
Blessings to all,
Gorgeous children and family! Your photos made my heart happy! I love to read the updates you post so often on your family and I’d like to reach out through my computer and hug those kids of yours!!!
Reading this made my day. I am overjoyed to hear of an answer to my own fervent prayers for these two precious children…an answer that was in the making before I ever knew the need! Thank you so very much for sharing your story. Our God is amazing!
Congratulations! Adopting from the foster system is such a gift to the kids – and to their new family.
My brother and his wife are still chugging through the final adoption process. We are so very thankful that baby “A” and her big brother “J” are a part of our family.
Best,
Michelle
Tricia! It always makes me tear up when I see other families who obey the call in their lives to minister to foster kids.We have been foster parents for 3 years and have have 12 kids in our home. We are in the process of adopting 2 out of the 3 we have in our home right now. Hopefully the 3rd will be soon to follow since he is a younger brother. But thank you for sharing your story and God bless you on your adventure!
Jen
Congratulations. I am so excited for you all. My husband grew up in foster care. He is a wonderful husband and kind and loving dad to our daughters, who are now 31 and 26. We were blessed by 2 daughters one birth daughter and one adopted at 13 days old. I just know the thrill your family is feeling during this time.
Behind the 8-ball here on congrats, but CONGRATS! What a gift these children are to you and you to them. May the favor of the Lord rest upon you!
Our Gotcha Day is coming up February 26. It will be 6 yrs ago. Three weeks shy of his 2nd birthday. Foster parents for 6 yrs. No longer fostering but still able to see 3-5 kiddos from 22 children that came through our home. You have a beautiful family.
Beautiful family! Loved reading your He Said/She Said story. I love how God has stirred your hearts. I’ve had adoption on my heart for years. Can’t wait to see what the Lors does in our family as we pray about it. Can’t wait to meet you in Pasadena at CHEA. Blessings!!
