Seven Things ANYONE Can Do to be Happier

Want to be happy? Really happy? I know how you can be. Guaranteed.

1. Stick with God.
Day and night I’ll stick with God; I’ve got a good thing going, and I’m not letting go. I’m happy from the inside out, and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed. You canceled my ticket to hell—that’s not my destination! (Psalm 16:9-10)
2. Do what’s right. Stick up for what is right.
You’re one happy man when you do what’s right, one happy woman when you form the habit of justice. (Psalm 106:3)
3. Teach your children the truth of God’s word, where wisdom is birthed.
Dear child, if you become wise, I’ll be one happy parent. My heart will dance and sing to the tuneful truth you’ll speak. (Proverbs 23:13)
4. Get over yourself. Rejoice and cry with others. Make friends with enemies and with people you usually back away from or overlook.
Bless your enemies; no cursing under your breath. Laugh with your happy friends when they’re happy; share tears when they’re down. Get along with each other; don’t be stuck-up. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody. (Romans 12:14-16)
5. Be content with what you have.
Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full, or hands empty. (Philippians 4:11-12)
6. Praise God with your voice and your life. See what He is doing around you . . . you’ll be amazed!
Hallelujah! Thank GOD! Pray to him by name! Tell everyone you meet what he has done! Sing him songs, belt out hymns, translate his wonders into music! Honor his holy name with Hallelujahs, you who seek GOD. Live a happy life! Keep your eyes open for GOD, watch for his works; be alert for signs of his presence.
7. Read God’s Word. Follow it.
By your words I can see where I’m going; they throw a beam of light on my dark path. I’ve committed myself and I’ll never turn back from living by your righteous order. Everything’s falling apart on me, GOD; put me together again with your Word. Festoon me with your finest sayings, GOD; teach me your holy rules. My life is as close as my own hands, but I don’t forget what you have revealed. The wicked do their best to throw me off track, but I don’t swerve an inch from your course. I inherited your book on living; it’s mine forever—what a gift! And how happy it makes me! I concentrate on doing exactly what you say—I always have and always will. (Psalm 119:105-112)
