This morning I was praying about a mission trip I’d like to take part in next summer. As of now I have 100 questions and no answers. Can we pull it together? Where will the money come from? Is this God’s will?
Then, God reminded me of times He SHOWS UP. One example is when I was working on my novel, Night Song. I REALLY wanted to attend a reunion of the 11th Armored Division (my second one), but I had the same questions … especially about money. Well, the reunion is in August and in the prior December my husband called me up. You see, every year his company raffles of “prizes” at Christmas: watches, gift baskets, etc. The BIG prize is two round trip tickets anywhere in the US. Guess who won (out of thousands of employees)? John. Guess what he said when he told me, “Well, hon, it looks like we’re going to that reunion after all.” What a sweet man to use those tickets to take me to Buffalo, New York so I could interview WWII vets!
Okay, I have one more … remember that book series that I thought I was doing, but then learned I wasn’t, but that has now piqued the interested of another publisher? Well, last night the phone was ringing during our small group. I ignored it. It rang 15 minutes later. I ignored it. 15 minutes later … (Well, you get the picture). Finally, I answered it. It was a vet Chet from the 11th Armored Division that just felt led to call me and find out more about my novels. We talked for a while, and after thirty minutes or so Chet mentioned that he oversaw former SS guards after the end of the war. Well, guess what my book series is about? Post-WWII, including those involved overseeing former prisoners during WWII! What another sweet reminder that God’s plans are perfect, and He cares for these things that matter to much to me.
God shows up. It’s my job to SEE Him when He does. And praise Him.
Is that cool or what?!
That’s awesome. I know I always need flashing neon signs in order for me to see what it is that God wants me to see.
