Can you believe that it is almost Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Around our table, we’re going to have a lot of traditional things: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole. sweet potatoes, some apple and pumpkin pies… But because my grandmother is Hispanic, there will also be things like enchiladas and tamales which are always with tradition with our family too.
Now I know some of you may be thinking, “I know that Thanksgiving is close, but it’s always so much pressure. I never know what I’m going to make. So many recipes that I find have too many strange ingredients.” Guess what, friends! I have something for you! Today I’m interviewing Hope Helmuth, the author of the cookbook Hope’s Table. She is sharing about her life (she’s a Mennonite author) and about some of her favorite recipes. Just a fair warning, you will probably be hungry by the time you’re done listening to this episode! What I love is how she takes simple recipes and things she’s learned from her mother and grandmother and presents them in a way that is easy for us to pick up her book, to try out some recipes, and to make us realize that we can make really delicious things for our kids. Hope is also going to talk about how it is so much more than just good food. How it’s about gathering and being with our kids and our family and the importance of that togetherness.
I know you are going to enjoy my conversation with Hope Helmuth! I know you will be blessed! You can listen above or on iTunes. I’d love it if you share this with your friends.
