In today’s episode, we’re staying in Hollywood. You’re going to hear behind-the-scenes interviews with
Zachary Levi, Gina Rodriguez, and Patricia Heaton! (Yes, is that cool or what?!)
I interviewed Zachary, Gina, and Patricia at a roundtable event with four other women: LaToyia Dennis with Motivated Mom, Jennifer Kieta Tanglewood Moms, Lisa Hendy CatholicMom.com, and Deanna Evans Flyby Promotions.
This interview is recoreded in Beverly Hills, and you’ll truly hear us just chatting around the table. After the interview I walked away with two impressions:
1. It’s not easy to be a Christian in Hollywood, not only living a life that’s watched and critiqued by the media and fans, but also living that life among people whose values are different than yours. It’s doing your best and living with an open heart, also realizing that even those who mess up in Hollywood can seek repentance.
2. I also walked away with the sense that being a mom and a wife is a challenge, no matter where you live. This came out of our talk with Patricia. She’s worked in Hollywood while also raising kids, yet has managed to do with with humor and grace.
When talking with all three it’s clear that family really matters, which is why making this family film was so important to them—even though you play a cow, as in Patricia’s case!
But I have to give you a behind-the-scene scoop as to why this interview was so important to me and my kids—especially our four older, adopted girls. As you can imagine, when you adopt kids—especially a sibling group of four—it takes a lot of adjustment. During those first visits they don’t know us, and we don’t know them. They don’t know our rules or our standards, and together we’re trying to find a new norm.
Ohio born actress Patricia Heaton started her career in the Broadway musical Don’t Get God Started but is best known for her role on television as Debra Barone, wife and mother on Everybody Loves Raymond. Heaton won an Emmy for Leading Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance on the show in 1999. She has since starred on the FOX comedy series Back To You and the popular ABC sitcom The Middle.
Zachary Levi is an American actor and singer. He played Chuck Bartowski in the series Chuck and appeared in films such as Tangled, and Thor: The Dark World.
Levi starred in the lead role of Georg Nowack in the 2016 Broadway revival of She Loves Me opposite Laura Benanti, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. In 2010, Levi voiced Flynn Rider in the animated film Tangled, in which he performed the duet “I See the Light” with Mandy Moore; the song won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media. He later reprised the role in the short film Tangled Ever After, and returned to voice Flynn Rider again in a Disney Channel television series based on the film in 2017. In October 2017, he was cast as William “Billy” Batson / Shazam in New Line Cinema and DC Films’ Shazam, as a part of the DC Extended Universe. The film is scheduled to be released April 5, 2019.
Gina Rodriguez is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Jane Villanueva in the CW comedy-drama series Jane the Virgin, for which she has been nominated for three Golden Globe Awards for Best Actress in a Television Series Musical or Comedy, winning once in 2015.[4] She also portrayed roles as Majo Tenorio in musical-drama film Filly Brown, as Beverly in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, and as Andrea Fleytas in Deepwater Horizon.
