#WalkItOut Podcast 076: Mary DeMuth
Why do bad things have to happen? It’s especially hard when pain is caused by sexual sin.
Being an innocent victim can be a heavy burden, such a heavy thing to have to carry around. It’s even harder when we, in the church, don’t know what to do about it. How can we help victims?
This is especially hard when someone in the church is the perpetrator. There is another level of disbelief and anger. And how can we help those who have been sexually abused?
Often churches are afraid that if this happened within their doors, word will get out and it will hurt the ministry. And because we are so focused on the “bigger picture church” we forget the victim.
We are going to be talking about all of these things in today’s episode with my friend, Mary DeMuth, author of the new book We Too: How the Church Can Respond Redmptively to the Sexual Abuse Crisis.
I am so thankful for Mary. I’m thankful that she continues to talk about the pain of her past, and also reaches out to try and help others. She is so genuine.
You are going to enjoy my conversation with Mary. I know you will be blessed! You can listen above or on iTunes. I’d love it if you share this with your friends.

This Week’s Walk It Out Scripture
2 Corinthians 5:19-21
…that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
