In An Amish Second Christmas, I was one of four authors who was able to share a unique story about Second Christmas.
What is Second Christmas?
The Amish Christmas is a simple holiday. Families spend time together, but usually only the children receive presents. (One small present per child.) They do not decorate their homes like most of us do. You will not find a Christmas tree or many decorations. Some Amish women create homemade cards for their friends. Christmas Day is celebrated and also “Second Christmas.” In some areas this is the next day. In other communities it’s a few weeks later. It represents the visit of the wise men to the Christ child.
West Kootenai, Montana
Like my other Amish novels my story, The Christmas Aprons, takes place in West Kooteai. West Kootenai is in Northwest Montana. I lived in Montana for 15 years and it’s a wonderful place to set my books! (For a complete list go here). There is a small Amish community in West Kootenai. Amish from other communities come an live there. It’s also a popular vacation spot for the Amish. The West Kootenai Kraft and Grocery is a real place. You can “like” them on Facebook. And if you’re in the area on a Friday night join them for a buffet dinner! Call (406) 889-3588 if you have questions.
The Christmas Aprons
In my story, The Christmas Aprons, the weather in West Kootenai may be cold, but there is romance in the air!
Vanilla crumb pie has been Esther’s mem’s calling card for decades. But when Esther finally gets her hands on the secret recipe, she discovers that vanilla crumb pie is more than just dessert . . . it’s bachelor bait.
This was a fun story set in one of my favorite places! And I’m sure after you read it you’ll want to try making a vanilla crumb pie!
Walmart iSpy!
Christmas is early!! Good news, from October 13-26, An Amish Christmas will be featured on select Walmart shrouds! In case you’re unfamiliar, the shrouds are the posters covering the security sensors at the front of the store. To celebrate, I’m throwing a Walmart iSpy contest. Visit your local Walmart and see if you can find a shroud of An Amish Second Christmas. Pick up a copy, snap a picture of the shroud or the book on the shelf and share your on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Make sure to tag me (@TriciaGoyer) and Walmart (@Walmart) and use the hashtag: #WalmartiSpy! As a thank you for participating, I’m giving away 4 signed copies The Kissing Bridge. You have until October 26 to enter! I’ll announce the winners on my blog October 31!

Sorry. Corrections on the 642. It was 600.
