As for a favorite text, I have always enjoyed “Easy Grammar.” my “tip” is to remember why you chose to homeschool because there will be days you will question why you are. Also, remember that it’s ok to have fun 🙂

I spend time on the Sping and Summer organizing our next year and creating a planner for our daughters. This has been extremely beneficial, especially on those days when I’m having a tough time getting started. Our daughters, who are 12 and 13 are able to look at their planner and know what assignments they have for the week. I’ve created a blog to help others develop a planner as well. It can be found at http://tinyurl.com/3c7stya

    Blessings!

My best advice would be to Relax & to not try to be just like someone else. You, your kids & your family situation are unique! God created you that way. Therefore, your Homeschool will be unique. Listen to/read all you can but in the end, do what is best for your family!

The curriculum itself matters far less than the love and skillful teaching in the lesson delivery.

My best homeschooling tip is to remember why you started this journey in the first place and never lose focus of that. We started home schooling in obedience to the Lord, to place Him first in all of our studies, and to cultivate a heart for Christ within our daughter. Once you step into the homeschooling “subculture,” it is easy to become enraptured with “Am I doing this right?” or “Am I doing enough?” I advise any mother to daily surrender the worries, the fears, the frustrations, the critical spirit, and especially the control. Just give your children Jesus in every way you can. Savor the simple and enjoy those precious teachable moments. That is the beauty and the benefit of homeschooling. Yes, seek counsel for all those scheduling, planning, curricula choices, but don’t DAILY lose sight of why you are on this path.

Best curriculum – Math-U-See! I love that you can see the lesson on DVD first. It is very helpful, especially when you get to topics such as Algebra, calculus etc.

Like others have said my recommendation would be to relax and remember why you started to homeschool in the first place. This is so important when you hit tough periods.

Know your limitations. Don’t take on more than you can handle and don’t feel guilty when you can’t do everything you want or feel you should be able to do. You’re only human. Well. You’re actually Superwoman, but even Superwoman has limitations. 😀
