Q&A with Meg Apperson
Do you have a writing routine? When/Where do you write?
When I’m working on a project, I write on the weekends. My husband watches our children so that I can focus exclusively on writing without a million adorable interruptions. I usually end up sitting on my bed with my laptop! If I’m working on something for my personal blog, I write whenever inspiration hits, which can happen anytime/anywhere!
When are you most productive?
I wouldn’t say I’m more or less productive at any certain time during the day, but having a tidy space is a big factor for me. So, my answer would be: I’m most productive when my house is clean!
What do you snack on or drink while writing?
Coffee is always my go-to writing fuel.
How do you overcome writer’s block?
Whenever I hit a writer’s block, I put my laptop aside and pick up a book to read instead! Reading someone else’s words is like a reset button for me.
What is your outlining process? Are you a pantser/plotter or something in between?
I started out as a pantser and morphed into a plotter! If I’m writing something shorter like an op-Ed or blog post, I still tend to fly by the seat of my pants, but there was a lot of plotting that happened when I wrote my book.
Best advice for someone who is just starting out.
The best writers are readers! Read a lot, write a lot, and don’t worry of it takes a while to find your style. It’ll come to you.

More about Sky Full of Stars:
Do You Trust God?
Meg Apperson grew up having a relationship with Jesus, and she always trusted God. It wasn’t until her daughter Avery—a miracle in so many ways—was born with a litany of life-threatening birth defects that she began to fully understand what it means to trust Jesus with everything.
In this heartbreakingly beautiful memoir, you’ll learn how a mother fought for her child, her family, and even herself as she grappled with the weight of failure—of letting down everyone around her and feeling let down by God.
In the midst of the fight, through heavy grief, she not only discovered her own voice—she discovered that God is both good and faithful.
Have you have ever experienced grief, suffering, or pain …
If God has ever asked you to surrender more than you thought possible …
If you’ve ever questioned how God is at work in the darkness …
Sky Full of Stars is for you.
This book will show you that when everything around you is dark, peace can be found in the suffering. You’ll discover new ways to rely on God’s trustworthiness.

Thank you for this interview. Will have to add this book to my (want to read pile).
Lovely cover art!
Thank you for this giveaway. This book sounds like one I need to read.
I, too, have fought for a child, perhaps in a different context. It is a never ending and seldom satisfying activity. I think I can find a companion in this book!
Thank you for the chance to win.
I love coffee and books so this author combines two of my favorite things!!!
I can’t wait to get my hands on this book! Meg’s story resonates strongly with me. I too have a child with life-threatening medical issues. It changes, grows, and molds you in unimaginable ways. Fun fact: My little life-changer was supposed to be an “Avery” but an ultrasound that showed “Avery” was a boy made us change to another name. Haha!
OH!! And hi Meg!! 🙂
I heard you talking with Tricia Goyer about your book and it sounds so good. Praying that it reaches many parents who need hope in similar situations. Your daughter is so cute! ~Robyn

This one is on my TBR list!!
This book sounds like it would really hit home with me. We’ve lost 3 second trimester babies and 2 first trimester babies, and sometimes find it hard not to ask God why and just find the love and faith that is always there. Thanks for the chance to win.
Sorry for your loss
